A little flashback to a memorable morning at Remuera Gardens, when much-loved Kiwi chef Mike Van de Elzen joined us for cooking, conversation, laughter and plenty of inspiration. And there’s lots more to look forward to! We’re busy preparing an exciting calendar of spring and summer events, including a very special quiz with TV personality Peter Williams and renowned horticulturist Jack Hobbs. Stay tuned for more!

Winter brings its own kind of magic to Remuera Gardens. Across our eight acres of established gardens, more than 150 varieties of camellias burst into bloom, filling the village with colour when many other plants are resting. From delicate pinks and whites to rich reds, camellia season is one of the highlights of the gardening year — and a beautiful reminder that there is always something new to discover at Remuera Gardens.

A wonderful morning of pink, purpose and community at Remuera Gardens, as residents and guests came together for a very special Pink Ribbon Breakfast in support of breast cancer awareness. With Mrs New Zealand 2026 joining us, a fabulous fashion parade, plenty of laughter and a sea of pink throughout the Pavilion, it was a morning filled with warmth, friendship and generosity for an important cause.

Congratulations to Kalmar for taking home a Gold Award at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards for the construction of The Avenues Apartments at Remuera Gardens. The Avenues introduced two premium apartment buildings into a fully operational retirement village, requiring careful planning and collaboration every step of the way. Delivered through challenges including major infrastructure upgrades and post-COVID supply pressures, the project was completed while preserving the character and daily life of the community already in place.

Our brand-new building at Remuera Gardens — The Avenues Apartments, built by Kalmar Construction Limited — is such an impressive development that it’s up for a New Zealand Commercial Project Awards award! The prize-giving ceremony is tomorrow, and we would like to wish the very best of luck to everyone involved in creating such a special place to live.

Remuera Gardens was buzzing with energy during our recent Give It a Go Week, where residents and guests enjoyed a range of activities showcasing the vibrant lifestyle our village offers. From outdoor games in the autumn sunshine to Chair Pilates, Chair Yoga and aqua aerobics, there was something for everyone to try. Visitors also toured the new Avenue Apartments, explored our beautiful gardens, and enjoyed barista coffee and yummy treats at the Little Nook café.

Remuera Gardens is featured on page 2 of the latest issue, with a beautifully written article showcasing the eight acres of cottage and tropical gardens that make our village such a special place to live — filled with an eclectic mix of native and exotic species. We think the hydrangeas and flowers in the photos look spectacular — and our residents look just as fabulous!

Fashion, friendship and community spirit came together beautifully this week at the Remuera Bridge Club, where Real Living Villages was delighted to attend a vibrant fashion show organised with Shoshamma Creations. The event brought together more than 100 guests to celebrate style, connection and the strong sense of community that makes Remuera such a special place to live.
