A Special Morning of Pink, Fashion & Friendship
At Remuera Gardens, there’s nothing we enjoy more than bringing together a good cause with friendship, fun and plenty of laughter.
On Thursday 21 May, we had the privilege of hosting a very special Pink Ribbon Breakfast organised by Val Lott, who has been part of the fashion and beauty pageant industry for over 50 years.
Our newly opened Pavilion at The Avenues Apartments provided the perfect setting for an event attended by more than 40 ladies who, of course, arrived dressed in every shade of pink to mark the occasion. Guests were also treated to a delicious selection of pink-themed food and sweet treats, all lovingly prepared by Val and two of her friends, and our onsite chef at Remuera Gardens.
Val has had a long connection with fundraising throughout her career. In 2004, she took on the task of reviving Miss Universe New Zealand, and over the years many of the fashion events and pageants she has been involved with have supported charitable causes, including breast cancer initiatives.
Alongside supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation, the event also aimed to support Zeisha on her journey to represent New Zealand at Mrs New Globe International.
The Pink Ribbon Morning Tea also featured a fashion parade with the participation of local boutiques Ebony, Augustine and Ferrachi, with models showcasing beautiful winter outfits — some with a touch of pink, naturally. Zeisha was joined by friends who had supported her throughout her journey, making the event feel even more meaningful.
Being a small family-owned organisation means supporting our local community is incredibly important to us, and we regularly work alongside charities and community initiatives. While Remuera Gardens has hosted Pink Ribbon events before, this year we felt especially proud to support this initiative and help shine a light on such an important cause.
Our Pavilion — the social hub connecting The Avenues Apartments and a place where residents gather for coffee, conversation and connection — was transformed by the glamour, warmth and joy these wonderful ladies brought into our village.
What made the morning especially memorable wasn’t just the fashion, fundraising or beautiful pink details — it was the sense of connection in the room. Watching guests and friends come together to support an important cause was a lovely reminder of the power of community and shared purpose. At Remuera Gardens, creating opportunities for people to connect, laugh and come together is something we truly value, making mornings like this especially meaningful.
