    A Midwinter Olympic Feast

    Epsom Village hosted a spectacular Olympic feast to celebrate the start of the Games in Paris! The midwinter dinner, a highlight of the village's social calendar, was a tremendous success with its Olympic theme. The lounge was adorned with pictures of renowned New Zealand athletes, and the menu featured delectable dishes from France, Italy, and Germany. The evening was complete with residents dancing to lively entertainment provided by artist Reuben Simpson, who performed classic hits from the '50s, '60s, and '70s.

    At Real Living, nothing is more important to us than the comfort and contentment of our residents. That's why we are thrilled when we receive heartfelt letters like the one we recently got from Cynthia, a Remuera Gardens resident. Cynthia has recently transitioned to the newly opened Kensington House Care suites, which provide full medical and nursing care around the clock. "It's such a wonderful addition to Remuera Gardens." says Cynthia. "Three months after moving, I'm happy again settled in with the wonderfully caring Kensington House team looking after me!"

    Things are getting a bit wild at Real Living! Pet Vibes provides hands-on interaction with adorable pets, from bunnies and guinea pigs to cats, dogs, cockatiels, canaries, and even a sheep. At Pakuranga Park, they have a regular and enthusiastic fan club that eagerly welcomes these adorable creatures into their hearts. Among them, the cheeky cockatiels, Biscuit and Ava, steal the show, delighting residents by perching on shoulders and even playing with their earrings whenever they can!

    Take the Plunge

    Epsom Village's annual Take the Plunge challenge was a resounding success! Each year sees an increasing number of residents take part in this lively and community-bonding occasion, diving into the village's outdoor pool on the Winter Solstice. Participants, including brave residents and staff, often wear costumes to add to the festive atmosphere. The award for best costume undoubtedly went to Dianne, who dressed in a full 1920s ensemble, complete with a Titanic-themed safety ring.

    Epsom Village has been very fortunate to host Susan Jordan, a choreographer with 50 years of experience who now leads SeniorsDance. They offer dance lessons for people aged 60 years and over in Mt Albert and Henderson. Our residents at Epsom Village thoroughly enjoyed Susan’s engaging and fun spirit, and they all had the opportunity to practice some of her easy-to-learn movements inspired by contemporary dance.

    Meet Julia and Trevor, a life full of adventures

    For some of our residents, boredom is a word that doesn’t exist in their life dictionary. Julia and Trevor moved to Pakuranga Park one year ago after leading lives packed with experiences. Trevor’s diverse career has seen him as a land surveyor, a builder, a singer, and the owner of a video shop. Julia has been a teacher, playwright, performer, poet, and is the mastermind behind the word game SQUABBLES. Has retirement slowed them down? On the contrary, Pakuranga Park has given them the opportunity to explore new hobbies and maintain their lively spirits within a vibrant community.
