A Great Place to Live, A Great Place to Retire

Did you know Warkworth has been recognised as a great place to retire in research by Auckland University of Technology (AUT)?

Perhaps not surprisingly, one of the advantages highlighted in the research was having a retirement village right in the heart of town. And that village is Warkworth Oaks.

Our five-storey apartment building sits alongside the iconic Warkworth Hotel, with cafés, shops, supermarkets, medical centres and everyday essentials all within an easy stroll. And, of course, the beautiful Mahurangi River is just moments away too.

The AUT research highlighted Warkworth’s history, heritage and strong rural identity, along with something that becomes particularly valuable in retirement: a genuine sense of community.

That’s something we value enormously at Warkworth Oaks too.

We’re proudly 100% NZ family-owned, which means we’re big enough to offer the facilities, support and lifestyle our residents want, but small enough for genuine connections to matter. Our residents are known by name, friendships flourish and there’s a real sense of belonging.

While having Warkworth on your doorstep is a major advantage, there’s plenty to enjoy without leaving the village.

Warkworth Oaks has its own Residents’ Lounge, heated indoor swimming pool, spa and sauna, gym, library, billiards and indoor bowls, along with a busy programme of activities and outings.

The AUT research also found that older residents particularly valued the friendliness and helpfulness of Warkworth’s local businesses and their staff, as well as the wide range of activities, clubs and community groups available.

That means plenty of opportunities to stay active, meet people and remain connected to the wider Warkworth community.

Some of our residents continue to work or volunteer, while others make the most of the beautiful walks and natural surroundings, join exercise classes or head down to the local bowls club. Retirement here can be as busy — or as relaxed — as you want it to be.

Choosing where to retire isn’t only about what you want today. It’s also about feeling confident about the future.

That’s why we’re continuing to explore opportunities for the future development of Warkworth Oaks, with concepts including additional apartments and the potential introduction of Care Suites.

It’s all part of our vision for Warkworth Oaks: a village that continues to evolve alongside the needs of our residents and the wider Warkworth community.

The research speaks for itself: 93.7% of respondents considered Warkworth a good place to live, highlighting its sense of safety, friendly community and wealth of activities.

Combine that with the beautiful Mahurangi River, a relaxed lifestyle and everything you need close at hand, and it’s easy to see why Warkworth is such a great place to retire.

And at Warkworth Oaks, you can enjoy it all from your doorstep.
