“This is the best role and the best company I’ve worked for”

At Real Living our staff are part of our family. That’s why we’re always sad to see one of our valued team members go, such as Pakuranga Park Sales Manager Kate Wynn. Kate has been in the role for more than three years but she’s leaving now because she’s moving with her family to the South Island. “It’s a bittersweet feeling” – says Kate – “I’m excited about our new adventure but also extremely sad to be leaving. I love everything about Real Living: the village, the staff, the fabulous residents. This is the best role and the best company I’ve worked for.”

Kate is the first friendly face that prospective residents meet when they enquire about moving to Pakuranga Park. These last months, Kate’s role has been focused on selling the village’s brand-new luxury apartments at Ruru. “My favourite part of the job is starting this fantastic journey with the residents. Some people are quite anxious about moving because they’ve been in their home all their lives. But when they put their trust in me, my role is to help them through this journey, and we end up building a special relationship. It’s so lovely when you see a new resident a few weeks after the move and they’re joining activities, making friends, going to functions, being happy. It warms my heart because I know they’ve made the right decision for themselves.”

The latest addition to our beautiful thirty acres of residential living in Pakuranga is Ruru, a magnificent four storey building of high spec residences.

Kate’s role has been mostly sales-focused, but she’s always been ready to help when it was needed around the Village. During Covid times she was part of the care team, mainly delivering groceries and meals to our residents, or checking on the villagers to make sure all their needs were met. “Pakuranga Park has a really close-knit team, our heart is in the right place. The staff’s best interest is always the wellbeing of the residents”.

Kate dressed up like the 80s with the rest of the team in last year's Christmas Quiz.

Kate has made lots of friends in the village. These last few days she’s receiving dozens of thank you cards and text messages from the residents.

“Thank you for making our move to Pakuranga Park a pleasant and rewarding experience.”

“Your thoughtfulness meant a lot.”

And our favourite one: “We will miss your lovely smile, your wonderful attitude to life and your positivity”.

Good luck in your new adventure, Kate!
