Epsom Village raises more than $600 for the Cancer Society.

Real Living Group has been supporting Daffodil Day for years, with some of our villages organizing their own fundraising events. The fight against cancer is a very important cause for most of our residents, so it’s no surprise that Epsom Village’s Daffodil Happy Hour was one of the most popular events of the year.

The residents were invited to wear yellow in support of the Cancer Society and some of them turned up dressed as daffodils.

The Village’s lounge was decorated with paper daffodils that the residents themselves made during the last few weeks. Some daffodils had also been donated by Kohia Terrace School, that has a close connection with the Village. The residents who showed more creativity with their outfits received special prizes, with the ladies who created a daffodil costume being praised by all their neighbours.

Epsom Village organized a Raffle for Daffodil Happy Hour with items donated by the residents. Local shops were also asked to participate, with an overwhelming positive response. Hell Pizza Epsom, the residents’ favourite takeaway, gifted all the pizzas for the night. The Florentine Tea Room donated more than 60 freshly baked cookies. The Raffle also included vouchers from our providers and trusted local businesses like Pop in Care, an in-home care service enhancing the wellbeing of the elderly & their families.

The Raffle included four gift baskets packed with high-quality goodies and vouchers from local shops and aged-care providers.

One of the highlights of the night was the Yellow Cocktail competition, with the Mighty Margarita and the 80s classic Fluffy Duck competing for the top spot. It was a close match, but the residents crowned the Fluffy Duck as the night’s winner.

Epsom Village’s Assistant, Penny, conquered the residents’ hearts with her outfit to match the cocktail she had prepared.

Real Living residents showed once again their kindness and generosity in support of such a worthy cause. Epsom Village raised a total of $650 that will go towards supporting people affected by cancer and their families.

A village with heart

“I’ve never had a moment’s doubt about my decision to move to Epsom Village.” Like Karen, so many of our residents are so happy with their new lifestyle that they don’t want to keep it to themselves. As a proud New Zealand family-owned village, we offer a level of care, warmth, and personal connection that big corporate operators simply can’t replicate. With only 90 residents, Epsom Village is intimate, charming, and distinctive — a place with real character and soul.
