Ensuring residents' wellbeing through exceptional care

Real Living’s retirement villages are thoughtfully designed to support residents' health and wellbeing, offering easy access to essential services that encourage an active, healthy lifestyle. Remuera Gardens embodies this philosophy, with options ranging from independent living and serviced apartments to the newly opened Care Suites, which offer luxurious, personalized care.

With onsite healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, residents receive consistent, attentive care that supports preventive health and enhances their quality of life.

We take immense pride in the exceptional caregiving team at Kensington House Rest Home, located within the Remuera Gardens estate, which provides compassionate, 24-hour care on a temporary or ongoing basis. Reign Marcial (pictured right), recently appointed as our Group Culture, Care, and Quality Manager, brings over 13 years of experience in healthcare. Reign states, “We offer a supportive environment where residents feel valued, comfortable, and safe. Our team of caregivers at Real Living is not only skilled but also deeply compassionate, ensuring that every resident experiences the highest quality of life possible. With a focus on kindness, professionalism, and building strong connections, our caregivers truly make Remuera Gardens a place to call home.”

Reign passionately advocates for senior adults and champions the Real Living Model of Care, which emphasizes empowerment for both residents and staff, cultivating a positive culture. This is evident in Remuera Gardens' newly opened Kensington House Care Suites, which provide personalised, friendly care in suites designed for maximum comfort and privacy. Each suite, spanning 30-40 sqm, offers comprehensive medical and nursing care around the clock. Here, residents receive attentive, prioritized medical care from familiar faces in the privacy of their own suites.

The Care Suites include nearly everything you need in one weekly fee, so there are no worries about managing bills. Services covered include:

  • Nursing, doctor visits, and medical prescriptions
  • 24/7 onsite staff and caregivers
  • Meals, power, water, and laundry
  • Assistance with showering and dressing, if needed
  • Internet, phone, electricity, and heating
  • Engaging activities, events, and bus trips

In choosing a Real Living village, residents find more than just a place to live; they discover a supportive, vibrant community that prioritizes health, comfort, and independence. At Remuera Gardens, you’ll find a warm, family-like atmosphere where the management team and staff know each resident by name. The close-knit, friendly community makes everyone feel welcomed and safe. To learn more about our Care Suites, please visit:

At our Real Living villages, we embrace the spirit of the season by creating happy moments for all, with fun cornhole competitions, themed crafts, and beautifully homemade treats. Of course, no Easter would be complete without a visit from our resident Easter Bunny, who makes sure there’s a little chocolate for everyone.

Movement and Mindfulness

At Real Living, we are always exploring new ways to improve the well-being of our residents and staff. One of our latest initiatives, the Holistic Dance Exercise Programme (HDEP), is an innovative, evidence-based project developed by our Group Culture, Care, and Quality Manager, Reign Marcial. Rooted in academic research and inspired by established practices from the Alzheimer’s Society in the UK, this programme integrates movement, meditation, and structured exercise to support cognitive function, balance, and fall prevention among older adults.
