A five-star culinary experience at Pakuranga Park

At Real Living our team of passionate chefs work tirelessly to provide healthy and delicious meals at the villages, catering to the diverse palates and dietary needs of the residents. Some of our villages also offer regular culinary evenings where the chefs can showcase their creativity. At Pakuranga Park the monthly Huntsman dinner is one of the most popular events, so much so that it always sells out pretty quickly.

Traditionally, a Huntsman dinner is a unique culinary experience that pays homage to traditional hunting traditions. The menu features exquisite dishes and premium beverages, and guests are encouraged to dress in their finest attire.

This is exactly the inspiration behind Pakuranga Park’s own Huntsman dinner. Chef Nitin Bodalkhande creates a different menu every month, using only seasonal ingredients and preparing every element of the meal himself.

The Huntsman dinner always offers a wide range of culinary options to satisfy the diverse palates of our residents. For example, diners can choose as an entrée between “Chicken pate with chutney, gherkin and toast” or “Baby beetroot salad with goat cheese, walnut and arugula with balsamic dressing”. The main meal always provides a choice between meat dishes and tantalizing fish creations, with residents having the option of “Scotch fillet with potato gratin, honey glazed baby carrot and broccoli with mustard gravy” or “Baked fish of the day with potato gratin, honey glazed carrot and broccoli with caper sauce”.

The residents enjoyed so much the main meals that they repeatedly asked the chef for the recipe.

The Huntsman dinner is not only an opportunity for the chef to showcase his talent, it is also a cherished occasion where the residents come together to connect and share stories, while savouring the extraordinary culinary offerings. Pakuranga Park residents wholeheartedly embrace the spirit of the dinner and they always come elegantly dressed, adding a touch of glamour to the event.

At Pakuranga Park, the Huntsman dinner is just one of many occasions where our exceptional chef can express his creativity. From the regular meals to the Happy Hours, the kitchen team always strives to infuse every meal with quality, flavour and joy… to make sure the residents have the healthiest options that bring a smile to their faces.

Anzac Day commemoration

The week of Anzac Day is a very important time at Real Living, as all our villages join the nation in commemorating the service and sacrifice of New Zealand and Australian military personnel. Yesterday, Pakuranga Park celebrated a memorial gathering to remember the fallen and pay tribute to the bravery of our military members. At the end of the ceremony, they featured a performance by the Eno Sisters, a trio of talented singers who sing songs from the wartime era.

Last week, the residents of Epsom Village were treated to a visit from Lonely Miaow, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and care of stray and abandoned cats and kittens. Lonely Miaow brought around 12 very friendly cats and kittens who loved mingling with the residents, having cuddles, and of course... getting into mischief.
