Together in remembrance this ANZAC Day
Real Living Villages are closely connected to the communities around them, which is why ANZAC Day holds such special meaning for us. Our villages not only honour the day internally with residents, but we also take pride in participating alongside the wider community whenever possible.
Today we had the privilege of standing alongside the Mount Wellington–Panmure RSA for their ANZAC Day commemorations.
The morning began with a moving parade through the streets of Panmure, accompanied by the Youth Band and members of the local Scouts.
This was followed by a commemorative service at the Panmure Town Hall, with reflections from RSA President Leon Matthews and Councillor Josephine Bartley. Speakers paid tribute to those who served while also highlighting the importance of keeping their stories alive for future generations.
ANZAC Day is one of the most significant days in New Zealand’s national calendar, a time when communities across the country come together to remember and reflect. We felt truly honoured to be part of the day’s commemorations.
The programme at the RSA also included a display of World War II artefacts and military memorabilia, which attracted interest across generations and provided a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the history behind the day together.
Our participation in community commemorations is complemented by the individual ANZAC Day services held in each of our villages, where residents come together to quietly reflect and acknowledge the significance of the day.
Lest we forget.
