A paradise for birds, a haven for our Residents

Did you know that Pakuranga Park is a well-established community set on 30 acres of beautiful, park-like grounds? Many of our residents say it feels like a quintessential English village, with its charming streets, cosy villas, and pockets of nature surrounded by lush greenery.

The villas at Pakuranga Park are nestled amidst lush greenery and charming pockets of nature.

It feels only natural to enhance our village with the installation of this beautiful Bird Wall, designed for both residents and birds to enjoy. With the village's abundant trees naturally attracting a variety of bird species (rock pigeons, starlings, thrushes, kingfishers, fantails or magpies), the purpose of the Bird Wall is to invite these birds to gather in one space, providing a delightful experience for our residents.

Located just behind the Community Centre, one of the village's busiest spots, this incredible addition was generously donated by James and Jen Glynos of Sensory Solutions. Specialising in sensory and functional installations, Sensory Solutions creates engaging environments for people of all ages and abilities. They’ve installed over 70 walls across New Zealand, and we’re thrilled to have one right here at Pakuranga Park!

To enrich the residents' experience, bird seed and a booklet on local birds are available near the back doors of the Community Centre. We encourage all residents to get involved and enjoy this wonderful initiative, which we’re confident will bring joy and tranquility to the entire village.

Pakuranga Park's Bird Wall boasts 6 all-weather seed feeders, 2 fruit feeders, 2 bird baths, and a variety of birdhouses and perches—a true paradise for our feathered friends. According to Martin Oettli, CEO of Real Living Group, “Our new Bird Wall is a great addition to our village grounds, bringing our community closer together and connecting us with nature.”

Our new Bird Wall is more than just a haven for wildlife; it's a wonderful way to strengthen the sense of community here at Pakuranga Park by bringing residents closer to nature. We hope this beautiful addition inspires joy, tranquility, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world in all who visit.

Gold Award Recognition for The Avenues Apartments

Congratulations to Kalmar for taking home a Gold Award at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards for the construction of The Avenues Apartments at Remuera Gardens. The Avenues introduced two premium apartment buildings into a fully operational retirement village, requiring careful planning and collaboration every step of the way. Delivered through challenges including major infrastructure upgrades and post-COVID supply pressures, the project was completed while preserving the character and daily life of the community already in place.

Honouring those who served

Real Living Villages are closely connected to the communities around them, which is why ANZAC Day holds such special meaning for us. Our villages not only honour the day internally with residents, but we also take pride in participating alongside the wider community whenever possible. Today we had the privilege of standing alongside the Mount Wellington–Panmure RSA for their ANZAC Day commemorations.
