Residents Rally for Breast Cancer Support
Every year in May, Real Living villages proudly take part in the Pink Ribbon campaign—New Zealand’s largest annual fundraising initiative led by the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
While October is internationally recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in New Zealand, May is the key month for Pink Ribbon fundraising activities.
This year, the Pakuranga Park Social Club organised a delightful Pink Ribbon Afternoon Tea, complete with pink-themed treats, decorations, and plenty of residents dressed in shades of rose and fuchsia. The Social Club, made up of enthusiastic residents, has already earned a reputation for hosting some of the village’s most memorable events—and this one was no exception. The Lounge was full of residents eager to enjoy a fun afternoon while supporting an important cause.
Reflecting the core mission of Pink Ribbon, the event helped shine a light on the importance of early detection while supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer. But the main goal was clear: to raise vital funds for research, treatment, and care.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our residents, Pakuranga Park raised an impressive $2,000 in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
Each year, Real Living villages select different charities to support, combining their efforts to make a meaningful impact. Over the years, they’ve raised funds for a range of worthy organisations including Blind Low Vision NZ, St John Ambulance Services, the Mental Health Foundation, Prostate Cancer NZ, and Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ—just to name a few.
