Epsom Village raises more than $650 for the NZ Red Cross

At Real Living it’s very important for us that our residents stay connected to the communities outside the village. We’re very proud of the fruitful relationship we have with the local businesses, the cultural groups and the schools around our villages. With this purpose in mind, Epsom Village organised a Community Fun Day on Saturday 4th of March inviting all their neighbours to come along and have fun with our residents.

The Community Fun Day was a roaring success with more than 200 people attending, including lots of families with little children. Lolipop the Clown was the star of the day. He spent three hours entertaining the little ones (and not so little!) with funny tricks and balloon magic.

Residents and visitors had the chance to try some outdoor games like cornhole and croquet, two of the village’s favourite games. This was a great opportunity to socialise and it allowed the residents to make new friends with the visitors who decided to give it a go.

A kiwi party wouldn’t be a party without a sausage sizzle! At Epsom Village they’re lucky to have two of the best barbeque cooks in the area so our guests were treated to premium sausage “sandwiches”.

The residents’ favourite performance on Saturday was the Peruvian Dance show. Tusuy is a Peruvian Folk dance group with the mission to promote traditional Peruvian culture. The residents enjoyed the two lively and colourful dances that Tusuy performed for them, and the bravest ones even tried some steps with the artists.

Like the rest of New Zealand, the residents at Epsom Village have been shocked by the devastation caused by Cyclone Gabrielle, so they decided to organise a raffle as part of our Community Fun Day. The raffle included spectacular prizes from very generous sponsors: Pak’n’save, Bunnings, and two of the village’s biggest supporters: the Florentine’s Tea Room and Kea Cookies. The residents sold a record number of tickets and raised more than $650 that will be donated to the NZ Red Cross.

Well done Team Epsom!

"I feel very privileged"

"I feel very privileged living at Pakuranga Park because you can't get anything like this in Auckland," says Colleen, who moved to the village two years ago. With her love of hobbies and traveling in her motorhome, she needed plenty of space—and found it in one of the village’s spacious villas. For those seeking a retirement village that offers safety, companionship, and the freedom to pursue their passions, Pakuranga Park is the perfect choice.

A Green Day Out

As part of its commitment to environmental conservation, Real Living is dedicated to recycling in its retirement villages, actively participating in various recycling initiatives, including food scrap collection and battery recycling. This commitment also extends to educational programs for both residents and staff, featuring engaging trips to learn more about sustainable practices. Recently, the residents of Warkworth Oaks had the opportunity to visit LESS, a community-focused recycling and resource recovery initiative operating in Warkworth and Wellsford.
