Epsom Village residents enjoy a sunny day at the zoo

Lots of animals were basking in the sun last Thursday at Auckland Zoo. Epsom Village residents were very lucky to see the elephants before they move to Australia later this year. They also enjoyed spotting some monkeys jumping high up on the trees and the meerkats mischievously hiding in their tunnels.

Auckland Zoo is currently undergoing renovations to build a new South East Asia habitat so lots of animals were not on display, such as the tigers or the orangutans. But the residents could see some of the most popular animals such as the green iguana (bigger than they expected!), the giraffes, zebras, ostriches, Galapagos turtles, lovebirds, and lemurs.

The luckiest visitors enjoyed seeing the baby rhino playing outside with her Mum and Dad. One of the residents, Karen, was delighted with the trip because she had managed to see up close the cheetahs and even record a nice long video of them!

There’s never a dull moment at the zoo and Epsom Village residents made the most of their visit.

A village with heart

“I’ve never had a moment’s doubt about my decision to move to Epsom Village.” Like Karen, so many of our residents are so happy with their new lifestyle that they don’t want to keep it to themselves. As a proud New Zealand family-owned village, we offer a level of care, warmth, and personal connection that big corporate operators simply can’t replicate. With only 90 residents, Epsom Village is intimate, charming, and distinctive — a place with real character and soul.
