Mrs Claus and the Grinch deliver Oscars at Epsom Village

December is one of the busiest times at Real Living, with staff and residents fully involved in the preparation of the Christmas functions. Epsom Village celebrated its Christmas lunch last Wednesday with a very original theme: "We're going to the Oscars!". The Lounge was set up and decorated as the Academy of Hollywood Headquarters in Los Angeles, with a proper red carpet too!

The residents loved the theme and they all came dressed up in their most glamourous outfits to have a picture taken in the red carpet photobooth. At all our villages, the Christmas functions are always the best occasion to get together and celebrate the friendship and companionship that abound in Real Living.

The residents were very impressed with the lunch menu, that included Tahitian style poisson cru as entree and a traditional champagne ham and stuffed turkey breast as the main meal. Pianist Max Purdie played classical movie themes while the villagers enjoyed lively conversations with their friends.

Epsom Village's chef, Nick Seaman, delivered a stunning traditional Christmas menu that was enjoyed by all the guests.

The lunch included a proper awards ceremony with the surprise intervention of Mrs Claus and... the Grinch! Even if he was not very happy to be included in the party, the Grinch delivered some Oscars to the most glamorous, sophisticated and popular residents.

Real Living's CEO Martin Oettli, and Board chairman Greg Kasper, attended the Christmas lunch too. It was a great opportunity for them to get to mingle with the residents after the long social pause that Covid forced upon the villages for the last two years.

Real Living's CEO, Martin Oettli, was seated in a table that won an Oscar for their musical knowledge.

Living the high life

At Real Living, some of our residents have mastered the art of making the most out of life. Vera, at 95 years old, refuses to let her age hinder her dreams. True to her spirit, Vera leaped out of a plane, and it became one of the most exhilarating experiences of her life. Her courage and determination are a source of inspiration to us all at Real Living.
